Hamas believes in new round of detentions result of Annapolice agreement

The Hamas movement has slammed the detention of nine of its members by the security forces loyal to Mahmud Abbas in West Bank cities. Hamas said the West Bank detentions by pro-Fatah security forces and Saturday's Israeli air attacks on Gaza 'showed part of the collaboration between Fatah and the Zionist regime' after the US-sponsored Annapolis Mideast conference. Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmud Abbas and Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert launched their first formal peace talks in seven years last week with the goal of forging a deal by the end of 2008. At the US-hosted Middle East conference; US, Israeli and Palestinian Authority leaders have agreed to seek a peace deal by the end of 2008 that would envisage 'the creation of a Palestinian state'. The summit, however, failed to address the core issues of the Mideast conflict like the status of al-Quds, the borders of a future Palestinian state and the fate of Palestinian refugees.
